It is not the length of an employee’s tenure that speaks to their quality of work. It is the effort put into the work. Since joining FWE in May of 2017, Micah has put in 200% into everything he has done for us. He has adapted quickly to policy, procedure and tasks given. He continues to think outside of the box to make procedures better for every task we present to him, without asking.

Micah’s commitment to his work has persevered through many long days and sometimes, long nights. A complete overhaul of our company history wall shows us all on a daily basis how planning, research and passion can build a beautiful story. We thank Micah for his dedication to telling our story the right way. As FWE’s Graphic Designer, Micah has elevated the artwork and photography of the company to the next level. He is always ready, willing, and able to provide design insight that keeps FWE in front of the curve and competition.

At Food Warming Equipment we understand the needs of the greater community around us. That is why we have partnered with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive for FWE employees. Founded by a nurse who worked during the American Civil War the American Red Cross official began operations in the early 1880s. For over 135 years the American Red Cross has been saving lives not only at home but abroad. Nearly 40% of all the blood donated in the United States comes from the American Red Cross.

Blood donation is but a small part of ARC’s humanitarian activities including First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, Scientific Research, Cellular Therapy, and many more. But the ARC is most notably known for its Disaster Relief programs during Hurricane Katrina, the 2010 Haitian Earthquake, and others.

Hosting the blood drive was an easy set up all any host needs to do are three simple steps outlined on the redcrossblood.org website. The host needs to offer a suitable location for donating. They need to help recruit donors within the organization. It is the responsibility of the host to schedule the donors for the appointment slot. The ARC does the rest.

FWE was proud to host a blood drive for company employees on January 31, 2018. Many employees including company Vice President, Christopher Huffman (shown left) were present to donate. For every person that donates blood can have the potential to save the lives of up to three people for eight to ten minutes out of a day FWE thinks that it is worth every second.

This is an award that is long overdue. You become so accustomed to certain people going the extra mile, you can unintentionally take it for granted.  Jimmy is one of those people.  He is a key person in the production operations at F.W.E., supervising all three Final Assembly Lines.  Whether it is working over through the week or on Saturdays, Jimmy is always here giving it 110%, looking out for F.W.E.’s best interest.  He is constantly suggesting improvements, training new people and sharing his knowledge.

He was nominated by Arturo Perez.  Jason has demonstrated the spirit of the Extra Mile Award by being willing to tackle any challenge put in front of him.  He helped us get an assembly line up and running.  Jason has served several stints in Inventory Control.  In between, he has done Final Assembly, built doors, and done Small Part Assembly in Electrical, just to name a few.  Recently Jason has become a proficient operator of the Artos Wire machine.

Adam has taken on much more of a leadership role in Engineering over the last year.  In addition to designing, reviewing orders, training employees and being the “keeper” of our PDM software, he has made time to start automating our design processes.  He is developing a process that will dramatically reduce the time required for design.  For example, it will enable us to design a standard door by simply entering the door’s dimensions.  His efforts to improve efficiency and reduce cost deserve recognition.

Arturo Perez nominated Ricardo for the Extra Mile Award.  Arturo says “No matter what you ask Ricardo to do, he eagerly tackles the job and gets it done.  Even if it is cutting insulation (which no one likes to do) or crawling under the shear to clean and lubricate it, he does it and doesn’t complain.  For these reasons he is someone I can always count on.” Since he started on 1/25/16, Ricardo has worked in Door Assembly, served as an Expeditor, and for the last four months has worked in Final Assembly on the Blue Line. For his efforts, I want to nominate Ricardo for FWE’s Extra Mile Award.

Patrick started at FWE on 6/11/12 as a temp helping Geoff Buhrow with painting the new facility, which makes him the very 1st individual hired at Portland.  After 4 months as a temp, he was hired fulltime on 10/15/12.  During his tenure, Patrick has worked in numerous areas, doing whatever he was asked to do.  His first position was Polishing/Deburr/De-tab.  Later he moved to Production Floater where he probably helped every department at one time or another.  In May of 2016, Patrick found a new home in Small Parts Assembly in Electrical.  For his versatility and willingness to tackle any job, he is well deserving of the Extra Mile Award.

Here at F.W.E. we have quite the mix of employees. Annette not only does her job very well, but she is quite the support person for any and all that ask for her help. This includes helping with insurance problems, legal problems, helping with shop floor, putting in for vacation, finding a place to live. You name it she will help you get it.
