Earth Day 2015 – It’s Our Turn To Lead…

In taking action to protect the environment — we can make a difference as every action counts!

In FWE’s effort to reduce greenhouse emissions, a larger understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) became apparent. CSR is an effort to make a significant contribution towards sustainability and competitiveness, an integrated social and environmental concept in lowering a carbon footprint of a company. FWE is proud to be a socially responsible corporate enterprise by reducing the company’s overall impact on the environment through the reduction of natural resources and energy, as well as strong recycling and other efforts.

To learn how we are doing business differently to impact our communities in a socially responsible way, as well as ways you can help, view our plan of action on our Community & Sustainability page at FWE.com.

Company-wide, FWE is actively looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and favorably impact our products and environment. Make an effort to support Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) companies and consider a lower carbon footprint lifestyle.

Did you know, for example, the burning and clearing of tropical forests is a major – though often unrecognized – source of greenhouse gas emissions? It accounts for roughly 16% of total global yearly emissions, more than the yearly emission all of the world’s cars, trucks, ships, trains and planes combined. Please consider in joining us in “Protect an Acre” with Conservation International, a global non-profit organization dedicated to the responsible and sustainable care for nature, and the well-being of humanity.

estarequipAs part of our commitment to sustainability and improved practices, we continue to certify more and more products to the Energy Star standard. In doing so we enable customers to make the right decisions that allow them to save money, energy, and natural resources, and meet ever increasing environmental standards. As such, Food Warming Equipment Co. is proud to display the Energy Star seal and share the products of our innovation.

Restaurants consume one-third of all retail electricity used in the world in addition to consuming a tremendous amount of gas and water as well as producing a large volume of waste. FWE engineered products help with the conservation of energy and water while typically decreasing the amount of wasted food product that would otherwise find its way into the landfills.

By producing high-quality, energy efficient industry leading products, FWE helps reduce customers’ energy costs as well as lower food costs associated with waste. FWE manufactures many Energy Star rated products and even products that are not marked with the Energy Star logo are often times meeting or exceeding those requirements. This not only helps our customers, but crosses boundaries to all that share our planet.

That is just restaurants! However, FWE manufactures kitchen equipment that are also used in hotels, resorts, hospitals, correctional facilities, schools K-12, higher education and theme parks around the world. Learn more about our Energy Star Certified Models by visiting FWE.com

CELEBRATING TEN YEARS WITH ALL OCCASIONS PARTY RENTALS

CELEBRATING TEN YEARS WITH ALL OCCASIONS PARTY RENTALS
FWE Caters Top Notch Service to Knoxville’s Event Planning Business

PORTLAND, TENN. (April 15, 2015) – When you think of event planning, what’s the first word that comes to mind? Weddings? FWE thought so too. However, All Occasions Party Rentals capitalizes on too many market segments to even list.

With over seven acres of land housing anything from decor to games and inflatables, this place has everything. Their inventory isn’t the only thing that is impressive. All Occasions Party Rentals works with the area’s most prestigious caterers and event facilities Knoxville has to offer. Director of Operations, James Aiken, said “we have contracts with a lot of local clients, like the University of Tennessee Knoxville, Bonnaroo, [and] the City of Knoxville” to name a few.

Because of their loyalty and support of local businesses, All Occasions Party Rentals was awarded the Knoxville Chamber’s Pinnacle Business Award in 2012 and the Dream Big Small Business of the Year in 2013.

FWE is proud to be apart of its success and provide solutions to All Occasions Party Rentals since 2005. 10 years ago, this event planning venture was in need of mobile banquet cabinets and chose FWE’s P-120 cabinets to rent out to its catering clientele.

The P-120 model feature’s FWE’s “Humi-Temp” humidified heat system, in which humidity can be added to condition circulated heat, eliminating hot and cold spots by gently circulating air throughout the banquet cabinet. All Occasions Party Rentals’ clients do not have to worry about serving delays and last minute arrivals.

Even a decade later, these same cabinets are still in use today. Aiken says “ The P-120s are loaded onto trucks and being used at catering events every single weekend.” The welded construction and tubular stainless steel base frame have sure taken a beating, but have proven that FWE’s equipment can withstand even the most demanding use.

There is no doubt that All Occasions Party Rentals made a strategic investment with choosing FWE as a capital equipment purchase. With a positive return on investment and an innovative business model under their belt, FWE hopes to provide solutions for All Occasions Party Rentals for decades to come.

Food is prepared and then put in FWE’s PHU-12 holding cabinet. Once in the PHU-12, the food is kept at the optimal temperature until it is served. Our moisture cabinets are designed to preserve food quality while staying hot and ready to serve. An accurate balance of heat and humidity levels creates an environment ideal for holding product for short-term and extended periods. When you are feeding hundreds this is of the utmost importance. Nobody wants a cold lunch, or a hot flavorless lunch. FWE provides the perfect balance to keep tummies full and learning fueled.

And the guest of honor is… Mr. Gerardo Reyes

Gerardo Reyes poses at resort.

FWE is proud to commemorate 35 years of service and reward it with a one week, all-expense paid vacation to Gerardo (Gerry) Reyes.

Each December, employees are recognized for 5-year anniversaries with FWE. In 2014, Gerardo was recognized for his years of service and provided with a trip of his choice. Gerardo and his wife, Martha, selected the luxurious Now Amber Resort and Spa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Gerardo and Martha are the third recipients of the 30-year milestone and vacation. Deron Lichte, President of FWE, said “We are pleased to honor Gerry, his hard work and his dedication.” Lichte added, “FWE’s success is due to heritage employees like Gerry, who provide great continuity and dedication over the years, assist in 3 facility location moves and the ability to mentor newer employees joining our team.”

Gerardo grew up with limited resources in a small town in Mexico. After graduating high school Gerry immigrated to the United States, he started working at FWE. Gerardo worked in every shop floor department, ascending to Fabrication Manager.

Currently, Gerardo is the Manufacturing Specialist, working alongside the leads of Production and Engineering. The Manufacturing Specialist verifies, reviews and implements detail-oriented, custom BOMs. Also, he assists the engineering department on modifications and provides manufacturing improvement recommendations.

Gerardo appreciates knowing he makes a difference at FWE. When asked what his life motto was, Gerardo said “Always do your best; [it doesn’t] matter what position you hold.”

A relaxing view!
A relaxing view!

Gerardo’s favorite moments of the trip were the lavish “welcome” to the resort, special seating at shows, relaxing in the warm weather and spending time with his wife. Whether it was ocean or poolside, Gerardo loved every minute of his vacation and wants to go back soon.

Due to winter storms, the Dallas airport was closed the day of Gerardo’s departure flight back to the U.S. Gerardo’s commitment to FWE was evident in making alternative plans to be back at his desk on Monday. His coworkers and family make fun of the fact that he chose not to stay two extra days and blame it on the weather.

We take this opportunity to thank Gerardo for helping FWE succeed and celebrate this 35-year accomplishment!
