Scheduled to open in early 2015, the beautiful 120,000 square foot One World Observatory will soon become the premier destination to host special events and banquets in New York City.


Last year the internationally renowned Legends Hospitality was challenged to create, and endorsed by Governors Cuomo and Christie, to maintain and operate the three story observation deck atop the new World Trade Center.  This project would bring a world-class observation deck to what will be the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere when it reaches its final height of 1776 feet.

Operation Brooke: Teaming up with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Be it a co-worker, a family member or dear friend,  there are few who can say they have not been impacted in some way by this terrible disease.  The devastating impact on the families and victims of this disease are undeniable and he fight against cancer is a daily struggle for many.  That is why we, here at Food Warming Equipment, are teaming up with the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay for Life.   

FWE’s very own Annette Kirby takes the lead in putting together our Relay for Life, a team event that celebrates cancer survivors, and raises funds for the American Cancer Society research, education, prevention, advocacy and patient services.  The ACS’s Relay for Life is a fun, outdoor and overnight fundraising event where teams take turns walking or running around a track.  Food Warming Equipment will have a team participating to raise money for such a worthy cause.


Operation Brooke: A Fight to Survive

Paula Herrington, contributor and lead coordinator, informs us all that, “Food Warming Equipment’s team name is Operation Brooke.  We are walking in support of Brooke Coddington.  Brooke is the 10 year old daughter of an FWE employee.  The Relay starts off with a Survivor’s Walk,  where cancer survivors walk the initial lap, symbolizing the courage that survivors and their families display and sustain in their lives.”

Paula goes on to say, “On the opening night, there is a beautiful and touching Luminaria Ceremony that pays tribute to cancer survivors and to loved ones who still live on in our hearts. During the Luminaria Ceremony, the luminaria bags, which are personalized for the person being honored, have candles placed in them. The votive burns throughout the night, serving as a reminder of the purpose of Relay for Life.” 

FWE’s team will be one of many at the Portland Relay of Life on June 20th 2014.  To date 24 teams and 249 participants have raised over $22,000.  Millions of people of take part in Relay for Life events around the country and it raises over 40% of the funding for the American Cancer Society.

How can you help?  

You may purchase a luminaria to honor someone fighting cancer or in remembrance of someone who has lost their battle with cancer.  These luminarias can be purchased by anyone.  As part of the fundraising activities, the person that sells the most will be awarded with Personal Time Off.  The Form is attached.  You may purchase a Team T-shirt.  Half the proceeds for the shirt will be donated to the American Cancer Society.  These T-shirts are not just for team members; they can be purchased by anyone.

Another fund raising activity, is a game that FWE employees Geoff, Souk and Rory have all agreed to participate in!  Each guy has a jug.  The object of the game is that the person with the MOST money in his jug is the loser. The loser will have to Karaoke in front of everyone! Everyone is encouraged to put money in the jug of the guy they want to “hear” sing!

FWE, a Catalyst of Positive Change to Legislation for Businesses Relocating to Tennessee

Tennessee State Rep. William Lamberth  carefully listens to the concerns of FWE owner Deron Lichte, among other constituents.  Rep Lamberth takes swift, positive action to correct an oversight in the cost of doing business in Tennessee.  Rep. Lamberth’s recent action in support of HB1386 will help future businesses and organizations relocating to Tennessee.

Scott Harrison, Staff Reporter for the Nashville Business Journal, writes of FWE’s contribution as a catalyst for change, to the gain of other businesses new to TN, in this recent Nashville Business Journal article.  Mr. Harrison leads, “This change in the way unemployment insurance rates are assessed for new companies moving to the state of Tennessee may provide a nice boost to the state’s corporate recruitment.”

Transmitted to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam for his action, House Bill 1386 enacts and establishes an “experience rating” applicable to new employers moving to Tennessee.  This would apply to relocating businesses with a well established track record, having been in operation for at least three years prior to becoming a employer in Tennessee.  The cost benefit would correlate to millions of dollars saved, by future employers.  Money that will go toward employing local workers through direct employment, as well as goods and services within the local economy.  This, to the benefit of the entire Middle Tennessee economy.

Food Warming Equipment Co. applauds  Tennessee State Rep. William Lamberth for his swift and resolute action that will go to for toward boosting corporate recruitment.  More importantly, Rep. Lamberth has proven himself to be an acute listener of his constituency to the benefit of all.  It is obvious he understands how real business is conducted and responds accordingly.  Perhaps it is due to actions like this that Forbes ranks Nashville, TN as one of the biggest Boom Towns in America.

FWE supports Tennessee, it’s leaders, and residents and hopes for a very long and prosperous future for everyone.  As this recent legislative action is not retroactive, FWE will not benefit from this recent change.  However we are still very pleased to see decisive action taken in what may have been seen by many as an arbitrary and punitive hidden tax, ex post facto.  We hope that all businesses relocating to Tennessee will benefit from this and reinvest this corrective savings back into the greater Tennessee economy.

Wrigley Field Goes Deep Dish This Season… With Giordano’s Pizza

Built in 1914, Wrigley Field turns 100 this year.  Host to the so many concerts, events and major league legends, any Chicago Cubs fan will tell you there’s nothing like enjoying a game at the Wrigley.

Greenfield, which acquired J. Cobo and Associates in 2002, has been doing business in Mexico for over 20 years.

According to Bill Eltringham, V.P. of Latin America sales, “the new office will give us a great platform to take our business in Mexico to the next level. The office will incorporate sales, customer service, technical support and warehousing capability.”

     • Martin Durante, Director of Sales for Mexico and Central America, will be in charge of the new operation.
     • Lucia Ayala, Customer Service Manager, will head up the support team.

Both Martin and Lucia have many years of industry experience and are very familiar with Greenfield’s customer base.  This would include the full complement of FWE lines such as heated holding cabinets, refrigeration, cook and hold ovens, transport carts and cabinets, mobile bars and a whole host of products for specialized market needs.
